Board of Directors

I was born in Brooklyn, NY, and spent my early years in Queens before my family moved to Connecticut. I graduated from New Milford High School and continued my education at UConn’s Stamford campus, later taking additional courses at Fairfield University.

My career started at Olin Corporation, where I worked in Human Resources as a secretary to the HR Director before moving into the Corporate Training Department. There, I helped develop management training programs, ensuring that future leaders had the resources they needed to succeed. I left Olin in 1984 to raise my son. Today, he lives in Naugatuck with his wife. A few years later, in 1986, I had my daughter, who is now married and living in Redding, CT.

In 1989, I returned to work at the Harrison Inn (now known as the Heritage Inn), starting as a waitress before being promoted to Banquet Manager. I went on to work in banquet and restaurant management at the Sheraton Hotel in Waterbury, the Sit Down Diner in Danbury, and Wendy’s in Waterbury, where I spent 15 years as a manager before retiring from full-time work. I currently work part-time in the kitchen at Pomperaug High School and plan to fully retire in the coming years.

I have always loved the outdoors, spending many years hiking the Mount Washington Presidential Range with a close friend. I also enjoyed waterskiing and snow skiing, along with reading and puzzles in my free time.

My husband, Robert Sitar, passed away in 2017. After his passing, I joined the Naugatuck Historical Society to learn more about the town where he grew up. Through this organization, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for Naugatuck’s history and community.
