Board of Directors

I became actively involved with the Naugatuck Historical Society in January 2023, volunteering in the archives library for 4 to 5 hours per week following the long-time librarian's retirement. After the Museum Manager left, I offered to serve as the archivist and joined the Board of Directors that same month, having briefly served as an alternate Director.

I volunteered for the Collections Committee and accepted the chair position from Theresa, with Joanne agreeing to co-chair. The Collections/Acquisitions Committee manages donations, processes items into the collection, and organizes and stores materials. The NHS collection includes over 9,800 items, such as books, archives, photographs, and objects. The committee also assists the public with collection-related inquiries.

After two years of service in the U.S. Army, I earned a Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) from the University of Southern California through the GI Bill in 1974. My career included roles with the Los Angeles City Public Library as a reference librarian and branch manager. In 1985, I became Assistant Director of the Hamden Public Library and later served as Director from 2001 until my retirement in 2012.

Since moving to Naugatuck in 1992, I have enjoyed the town’s rich history. My father-in-law, a longtime electrician at the Chemical Company, introduced me to Naugatuck High School football, which I still follow with enthusiasm.

I remain inspired by the foresight behind the Society's early collections, which began with a few hundred items in the 1960s and have grown to more than 9,800 pieces.
